Most of the musicians got huge paydays from their sets at Woodstock and many of them demanded their money before they would take the stage. This put organizers in a hard spot and they were forced to take loans and pull cash from wherever they could get it so that the show could go on. Musicians were paid between $5,000 and $23,000 for their performances.
